- I have a Best Data 2834F internal modem. I have no problem with the performance
- of modem, with the exception that I cant hear the dialtone/handshake sequence.
- I just get a brief (1 sec) dialtone, then silence untils it connects. I've
- tried editing the init string in regedit, but that poses further problems.
- First, there are two places for init strings. One is under Modem/0000/Init &
- the other is under Modem/0000/Settings/Init, each with different strings.
- Which is the correct one to edit? Also, when I do change one string or the
- other, they get reset to thier original values whenever I restart Win95.
- How do I make the changes permanent? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
